Have you ever wondered what does it take for one person to come into a saving relationship with Christ and join a church family? Well… the answer is almost never that simple. In a survey done by Princeton University it was noted that  “people who don’t regularly attend church are reluctant to come to a worship service alone.  But the same study reveals that over 90 percent of Americans say they want to learn more about the Bible. The best way to reach people for Christ is through relationships.”

The problem is that most Christians don’t seem too concerned about cultivating these relationships. As a matter of fact, in 1993 a study by Michael Parrot stated that 87% of Christians had never shared their faith with someone and 95% had never brought a person into a saving relationship with Jesus. Hopefully things have changed since then!

Yet many times the problem is that we don’t know where we fit in in this life saving process. God has made each one of us unique. He has given us different talents and abilities, but at the same time He expects all of us to serve Him. That is why Paul wrote:

There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 1 Corinthian 12:4-6

Take for instance Monica’s Story:

It wasn’t a single event, person, or ministry that motivated her to make Christ her savior and our church her church family. It was a number of ministries and individuals working together for the same cause that brought Monica and her family to Sligo.

We are blessed to be part of a church body with so many ministry and outreach opportunities. Just last week we announced the Hope for Today outreach ministry. The beauty of it is that everyone can be part of this ministry, whether you like to teach or lead discussions, or have the gift of hospitality, or just want to pray and build relationships through fellowship, everyone can bring their gifts and abilities as we work together to fulfill the mission for which God has called us. Yes, there are diversities of Gifts but the same Spirit and the same God works in all.
