April 12 Sligo Gardening Club Zoom event

Mission Statement

Planting faith. Growing fellowship.

Hosted by Sligo church and open to the community, we are a community of gardeners—seasoned and beginner alike—gathered to cultivate the earth and nurture the soul. Through hands-on gardening, shared wisdom, and spiritual reflection grounded in faith, we seek to deepen our connection to creation, and one another.

Our mission is to:

  • Foster mental and spiritual wellness through the rhythms of nature
  • Create inclusive spaces for learning, laughter, and growth
  • Steward the land as an act of service
  • Build intergenerational fellowship rooted in grace and purpose
  • Become self-sufficient in growing vegetables and herbs, sharing our harvest with others in love and generosity

Beginners may garden indoors or on balconies, while seasoned gardeners grow in backyards and community spaces, encouraging one another along the way. There’s no need to leave home—when possible, all gatherings will offer both remote and in-person participation, with ongoing connection through online conversation between meetings.

Gardening Locations include:

  • Church grounds (coming soon… small patch, courtyard, rooftop, etc.).
  • Raised beds or containers on the property.
  • Acquire a community garden spot.
  • Balcony or windowsill gardening.
  • In-home plant pots

Together, we plant seeds of hope, water them with love, and trust God for the harvest—planting faith and growing fellowship in every season.
